Enter the Vatican Museums a full 30 minutes before the general public to see the Sistine Chapel.
After meeting at the entrance to the Vatican Museums, your guide will escort you (and your small group of maximum 15 people) through the long galleries of the Vatican Museums and directly to the Sistine Chapel.
Along the way your guide will give you some insight on what to look out for inside the Chapel. Using visual aids will also explain how Michelangelo created such tension in ‘The Creation of Man’ on the roof of the Sistine Chapel. Give you tips on which characters to look out for in the ‘Last Judgement’ behind the altar, and add depth to your visit by providing background (and gossip) on the incredible project that was the painting of the Sistine Chapel.
After 30 minutes inside the Sistine Chapel you’ll have the option either to stay inside and travel back through the Vatican Museums afterwards on your own or to follow your tour guide for skip-the-line entry to St. Peter’s Basilica. We highly suggest that you take advantage of this opportunity to get past general access lines to St. Peter’s Basilica (which can stretch for hours during busy periods).
With our special access your guide will lead you directly from the Sistine Chapel (via a special door) into the Basilica where they’ll give you a full tour of the most important church in Christendom. You’ll see Michelangelo’s Pietà and Bernini’s incredible altar, and learn the histories of some of the popes who were laid to rest here.
Visiting the two most important sights of the Vatican (the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica) in just two hours, this express tour is an affordable, fun and educational way to explore – without having to wait in line!
