Welcome to the bike tour that brings together a passion for cycling and the culinary arts.
You will taste the refined Sardinian olive oil and experience a wine and cheese tasting. You will cook classic Sardinian dishes, such as malloreddus, culurgiones and fregola. You will prepare dishes of fresh fish and meat with a delicate and admirable flavour. As for cycling, you will ride through the scenic Montiferru or the neighbouring plain of Arborea, and you will visit the Punic-Roman ruins of THARROS and the archaeological site of Barumini, where you will find the Nuragic town of SU NURAXI.
Most days include a hands-on cooking class or a visit to taste local artisan food. Our dining-out experiences range from a simple osteria, to a family trattoria, and an elegant restaurant. You will come home inspired, not only with new recipes, but also with the enthusiasm to implement these skills into your lifestyle.
Arrival in Alghero Airport and transfer to Hotel el Faro. Bike fitting and test ride.
The Sardinian town of Alghero is a lively and pretty city, as well as a flourishing tourist attraction not only for the summer masses and elite tourism. Famous for being dominated by Catalans and here you will find the Catalan language is spoken. The Mura Catalane (Catalan walls) still surround the old town center on the seaward side. Don’t miss the chance to take a leisurely walk and a drink at sunset before a gourmet welcome at a local restaurant sampling the special Catalan cuisine of the area.

Loop bike ride from Alghero to Capo Caccia.
Distance: 54 km / 33 mi flat and rolling hills.
Leaving the pretty city of Alghero and heading in a north direction, you will ride in the terrific area of the Vermentino wine. In this region, called Nurra, the wind blows directly from the North West and plants can’t grow over a few meters in height. If you have time not to be missed is a visit to Capo Caccia: Calcareous rocks spattered with caves and ravines that hide a mysterious world atop the turquoise sea.
The area of Punta di Giglio and Capo Caccia is an underwater cave paradise. Here the Grotta di Nettuno, under the spur of Capo Caccia, is reachable by sea or by descending the many steps of the Escala dei Caribol which are some 110 metres in drop. Also home to caverns, made all the more atmospheric by the presence of stalactites and stalagmites.

Bike trip to Bosa and Santu Lussurgiu.
Distance 90 km / 56 mi, rolling hills to hilly
Departure from hotel. Leave Alghero and arrive at Bosa skirting the coast, up and down for about 40 km. In Bosa you can admire the massive complex of the Castello dei Malaspina. Due to a series of quite unique events, Bosa has managed to keep its territory unchanged. You will cycle along country roads, passing through small villages and climb the Montiferru Massive, where you will see the famous Siete Fuentes water sources in San Leonardo.
Soon you will arrive in Santu Lussurgiu, admiring the great plateau of Ghilarzaand ready for your first cooking class at Antica Dimora del Gruccione restaurant. Our chef will introduce you to the preparation of a Sardinian specialty, ravioli Culurgiones.
Loop bike tour from Santu Lussurgiu to Cuglieri, Narbolia, Bonarcado.
Distance: 67 km / 41 mi. Rolling hills to hilly
Today you will cycle along country roads passing through small villages such as Cuglieri and will reach the famous S’Archittu, an arch caved by the sea and the wind. Next you will arrive on the Campidano flat and then climb to the other side of Montiferru mountain crossing Narbolia and Bonarcado. Along the way you will come across many sites of Nuraghe then making your way back to explore Santu Lussurgiu village, with it’s ancient stone houses built in a concentric configuration along winding and steep, narrow, cobbled lanes surrounding the small rustic church of Santa Croce. Head back to Santu Lussurgiu for a gourmet dinner at a hotel restaurant, tasting cheeses and other specialties of the area.
Cycling from Santu Lussurgiu to Cabras via Fordongianus.
Distance: 69 km / 43 mi rolling hills and flat terrain.
After breakfast you will have time to visit the village again filled with scents of homemade sweets; Pedal downhill in the region of Montiferru, a dormant volcano, passing through small towns rich in medieval history with Spanish flavor, admiring the Campidano plain and the sea from the top. A Cappuccino stop or light lunch in Fordongianus, a little village with it’s numerous Roman ruins and both new and old spas. Finally we will arrive in Cabras, a town of fishermen and horsemen, famous for its BOTTARGA (Sardinia “caviale”). Highlight: visit to the Roman ruins of Fordongianus. Cooking classes will be at the Librid restaurant.
Loop bike trip to Cabras and Tharros.
Distance: 54 km / 34 mi all flat.
Today, you will depart for the peninsula of “Sinis” and it’s many lagoons and wetlands. Depending on the season, you will be able to see wonderful pink flamingos. Pass through Riola Sardo and then ride around the Cabras lagoon, where you can visit the ruins of the Punic-Roman port city of “Tharros” with it;’s breathtaking view. From here, saddle up again and ride to the marina di Torre Grande where you can stop for lunch in one of many seafront restaurants or bars and taste unforgettable peppered mussels. Head back to the hotel following the cycling path. Enjoy the Vernaccia wine tasting at Contini winery. Farewell dinner at Craf da Banana restaurant.
After a farewell breakfast together, private transfer to Cagliari airport or to town.
