Annually, the ASD Santa Marinella Surf Club participated in the great “Ocean Initiatives” project by the Surfrider Foundation, an ecological global venture dedicated to the environment and the cleanliness of beaches, seas, oceans and rivers. On the 8th of April, the beach of the Castle of Santa Severa was cleaned with the support of many associations and volunteers not only from all over Italy but from all over the world.
Representatives of the Surfrider Foundation Italia took part in the event with educational and informative material outlining the projects of the famous world organization. The famous surf-brand Rip Curl, distributed in Italy by Surfclash, was present with the team rider Alessandro Marcianó who will have just returned from his 3rd season on the giant waves of Nazarè.
Santa Severa beach lies 50km north of Rome and is undeniably scenic and is a very popular destination for the Romans in summer. At the start of the beach lies the 11th century Castelo Santa Severa, which is one of the many gems of Italian monuments.
Santa Severa has plenty of ‘free beach’ (spiaggia libera) areas with plenty of beach-side bars and restaurants.
